Cookie Policy
Last updated June 2026Introduction
This Cookie Policy explains how Brygg uses cookies and similar technologies. Read it together with our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They can be “session” cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or “persistent” cookies (kept for a set period), and “first-party” (set by the site you visit) or “third-party” (set by others).
Essential authentication cookies
These are necessary to sign you in and keep your session active. Under the GDPR and ePrivacy rules they do not require consent because they are strictly necessary for the service you request. They are set by our authentication system (Better Auth).
Session cookie details
- Purpose: stores your signed-in session so you stay logged in across pages.
- Type: essential / first-party.
- HTTP-only: yes — cannot be read by JavaScript, protecting against XSS.
- Secure: yes in production — only sent over HTTPS.
- SameSite: Lax — mitigates CSRF.
- Cleared: when you sign out or the session expires.
Without these cookies you cannot stay signed in. Browsing and searching anonymously does not require them.
Analytics cookies (optional)
We use PostHog, a privacy-friendly, EU-hosted analytics platform, to understand how the Service is used and improve it. These cookies are only set if you click “Accept cookies” in our banner.
PostHog cookie details
- Purpose: measure page views, searches, and feature usage to improve Brygg.
- Type: analytics / first-party.
- Provider: PostHog (EU cloud).
- Consent required: yes (non-essential).
Your choice:
- Accept — PostHog uses cookies for more accurate, cross-visit analytics.
- Decline — PostHog runs in cookieless mode: it records basic events without setting cookies on your device.
PostHog is GDPR-compliant and we do not share analytics data for third-party marketing. Learn more in PostHog’s Privacy Policy.
Cookies we don't use
To respect your privacy, Brygg does not use:
- Advertising or marketing cookies.
- Social-media tracking pixels or widgets.
- Cross-site tracking or third-party ad networks.
Even if you decline analytics cookies, you can use every feature of Brygg — we simply collect less detailed, cookieless analytics.
Third-party infrastructure
We host this website and our authentication on Vercel and our backend on Google Cloud Platform. These providers may set strictly-necessary cookies for security and load balancing; they are not used for tracking or advertising. Our AI search provider (OpenAI) and geo provider (ipinfo.io) are called server-side and do not set cookies in your browser through Brygg.
Managing your cookies
- First visit:you’ll see a banner asking for consent to analytics cookies.
- Change your mind:click “Cookie Settings” in the footer at any time to reopen the banner.
- Browser controls: all modern browsers let you view and delete cookies in their privacy settings. Blocking essential cookies will prevent you from staying signed in.
